Formal writing can seem intimidating for both parent and student. But it doesn’t have to be that way! Silly sentence starters, Telephonic writing (remember the game Telephone? Now it’s a writing excercise!) and other fun ways of expression can teach fundamentals in an enjoyable way.
Elementary students will generate their own lists of adjectives and adverbs to add some depth to their writing. The “Hamburger Method” of paragraph writing will surely have them using all kinds of condiments! Literary elements and various genres will be introduced.
Middle School students can have their own Hamburger fun while practicing 3 and 5 paragraph essays. Purpose of writing will be discussed (informative, persuasive etc). Classes can focus on a type of essay, poetry or creative writing.
High School students can get to business in a kind and supportive environment where we can talk about “their” voice in the assignments they are given..
